Adventure Program

What is NJICL Adventure?!  Adventure is all about having fun on bikes! Team up with friends, go for a ride and have fun with challenges and activities before, along the way and after the ride. We will provide student-athletes the opportunity to engage in quality outdoor education, experiential and social opportunities outside of and/or in addition to mountain bike racing.

On Saturdays at all series races we offer the opportunity for students to participate in an adventure ride. Located in the middle of the action inside the race infield, this is a golden opportunity to experience the venue in a welcoming and low-stress environment. Activities will be centered around the Try it Out trailer & tent, located in the infield. The adventure course is self-guided, with games and activities peppered into the ride to increase the fun factor.

Cost: $20.00. We are piloting the program and hosting trainers from NICA National for this event. As such, we have decided to provide these activities at no charge. In return, we are asking for your feedback in the form of a post-event adventure survey.

Who can participate?  All students and coaches in the league.

What should you bring? A helmet and bike (or try one of ours), water, snacks, etc. Everything you would normally take on a team ride. Most importantly, bring an open mind and positive attitude!

Do teams need to provide coaches? We will maintain NICA-standard coaching ratios on adventure teams, so if your team is sending students to the event we would prefer that you also send coaches. Coaches are there to provide assistance and mentorship on the trails, but will not participate in the games & activities. There will be extra coaches and staff available for independent and new riders, and we will encourage combining teams to increase the fun factor for all.

How does it work? Students and coaches sign in with the Adventure Coordinator at the trailer and get grouped into teams. Teams head out on the adventure course, taking part in games and/or challenges in the infield and along the course.
