2018 Racing Season

Race 1: Chester Challenge Season Opener

Highlands Ridge Park: 50-120 North Road, Chester, NJ 07930

Sunday, April 15th, 2018

Highland Ridge Park is an amazing venue for us to kick off the 2018 season – beautiful vistas and a great mix of fun single and double track. The grounds surrounding the venue used to be the home of AT&T’s Bell Labs. Be sure to check out the telephone pole farm by the entrance. The race lap is 2.5 miles long with 220 feet of climbing, a great place to test your mental and physical preparedness and put all that early season training to the test.

Race 2: Camp Edge Classic

Camp Edge: Camp Edge Road, Alloway, NJ  08001

Sunday, April 22nd, 2018

New for the 2018 season, we are super excited to announce the Camp Edge Classic! Home to our own Salem County Reactors Team, Camp Edge is a truly wonderful race venue. The team hosts a fundraiser race every fall at the same venue, “Shred the Edge”, which benefits both the camp and the NICA team. The course is approximately 60% twisty singletrack, with short punchy climbs and a really amazing infield. Spectators will enjoy the ample opportunities to see racers throughout the course. The camp has a base lodge which will be serving food, and camping is available on site for Saturday evening. We are so happy to partner with Camp Edge this year to offer the NJICL a truly unique race weekend.

Race 3: Lewis Morris Mania

Lewis Morris Park: Sunrise Lake Drive, Morristown, NJ  07960

Sunday, May 6th, 2018

Lewis Morris Park is a popular mountain biking destination and no stranger to competition, having been the home of Marty’s Lewis Morris Challenge for many years. The race loop is 2.75 miles long with 300 feet of climbing, and a mix of 1/3 double track, 2/3 sweet flowing single track. Definitely some extra fun stuff to look forward to!

Race 4: Quick Slick Six

Six Mile Run: 102 Jacques Lane, Somerset, NJ  08873

Sunday, June 3rd, 2018

The NICA course features a fun mix of twisty, punchy single track and power-on stretches of double track. Not a huge amount of climbing (only around 250’ per lap), but definitely enough for you to feel a good sting in your legs.

Race 5: Gloucester Gasser Season Finale

Rowan College at Gloucester County: 1400 Tanyard Road, Sewell, NJ  08080

Sunday, June 10th, 2018

We will be racing on the Gloucester County College trail system that has hosted many a cross country running race and is home to the Summer Sizzler mountain bike race. This venue features a huge infield, ample parking, and a course that loops back to the infield area part-way through the loop which will make for great spectating. The course consists mostly of twisty single-track with lots of short and punchy climbs, along with stretches of double-track and grassy areas. The race loop is 2.5 miles long, which is a little shorter than our other races so we’re upping the lap count. That’s a great opportunity for our middle school student-athletes to get to experience a multi-lap race.
