Camps Program

Registration is open!

We are excited to return to Vermont’s beautiful Northeast Kingdom for our 2024 NJ NICA MTB Summer Camp!

You’re invited to join us for a week of epic rides at Vermont’s Kingdom Trails, a 100+ mile network of trails for all skill levels. This year, the camp will be a full week long! We’ll be staying at the beautiful 30-acre campus of Burke Mountain Academy, a residential high school for aspiring Olympic skiers from Sunday, July 21st through Saturday, July 27th. Camp is open to NJ NICA student-athletes who are in 6th-11th grade for the 2023/2024 school year and who have participated in at least one season with the NJ NICA league by the start of camp.

Campers and coaches will stay in one of six house-like dormitories and eat all meals together in the modern dining hall. The campus is ideally located just a short bike ride from “downtown” East Burke, VT and surrounded by a network of over 100 miles of singletrack to explore.

In addition to epic rides, there will be skills clinics, on-the-bike games, bike maintenance classes, and more. There will also be lots of non-biking activities, including sports, team-building challenges, crafts, hiking, etc. Camp staff will be comprised of experienced and certified NICA coaches from the New Jersey league.

So, come spend the week in beautiful Vermont riding and playing in the woods with a bunch of people who like to ride as much as you do!

We know you have lots of questions. Below are our FAQ’s that should answer most of them!

Info For CAMPERS

What are the sleeping arrangements like?

All campers stay in one of five house-like dormitories, in rooms of 2-4 campers, assigned by age and gender. Coaches will stay in separate rooms in each dorm.

Can I room/ride with a friend at camp?

Possibly, yes. Camp should be thought of as an opportunity to meet other student athletes and make new friends. That being said, we understand that some campers really want to stay and or ride together. While we can’t promise to place you on the same riding team by request we most likely can make arrangements for campers wanting to stay together. There will be an opportunity to request a roommate and a riding buddy when completing Camper Information forms closer to camp dates.

Most meals are served in the BMA Dining Hall and prepared by the amazing BMA staff chefs. Most dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Most lunches will be ”brown bag” lunches to take on longer days on the trails.

See our Camp Packing list for a detailed checklist.

The camp is open to all skill levels! Expect to do a lot of riding, at least 3-4 hours per day, and that your time on the bike will ramp up as the week progresses. Here’s an example of what your camp schedule may look like.

The Kingdom Trails network is more flowing than technical handbuilt and excavated trails. Kingdom Trails is a network of over 100 miles of single and doubletrack for all ages and ability levels all on private land generously open to the public for our enjoyment. All riding at camp is conducted under the umbrella of NICA and we are a cross-country MTB program regardless of the venue at which we are riding. As a NICA student athlete you are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct

We recommend that your bike be a cross-country hard-tail or mid-travel full-suspension bike. The bike you choose to bring should be a bike that you would feel comfortable riding all day across varying terrain. You may bring only ONE bike to camp. We will have spare bikes available for campers to use should mechanical issues arise.
